The Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Nuhu Muhammadu Sanusi, has suspended the son of the immediate-past governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, as district head of Bamaina, following a letter from the state government.
Mustapha Sule Lamido, 32, was first appointed ward head by the emir immediately after his father became the governor of the state, and a year later the emir promoted him to the position District Head of Bamaina and Santurakin Dutse.
It was reliably gathered that Mustapha was suspended alongside Dokajin Dutse, the District Head of Kiyawa, who is standing trial for corruption alongside the former.
DAILY NIGERIAN observed that the suspension of Mustapha Lamido was a replication of the suspension of Senator Muhammad D. Alkali in April 2009, at the instance of then Governor Sule Lamido, by the Emir of Gumel as Sardaunan Gumel.
Senator Alkali’s offense at the time was nursing ambition to contest the governorship of Jigawa State.
But Governor Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State is wittingly or unwittingly avenging what Sule Lamido did to Senator Alkali seven years ago as he conveyed a letter directing the suspension of Lamido’s son to the Emir of Dutse on Saturday.

The letter, dated January 29, 2016, was signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Adamu Fanini.
Acting on the state government’s letter, the emir, who returned from a US trip on the same day the letter was signed and delivered, in turn, immediately directed the Secretary of the Dutse Emirate Council to write a suspension letter to Mustapha Sule Lamido.
The letter, titled “Suspension as District Head of Bamaina”, reads in part: “[the emir suspended you] following a letter from the office of the Secretary to the State Government to His Highness with reference no. SSG/AF/S/A/14/VOL.III/82, dated January 29, 2016, directing the emirate to suspend you as District Head of Bamaina, based on the provision of Civil Service Rules number 04301 and 04412.”
The emirate explained further that the suspension followed his case at a Federal High Court in Abuja.
One of the charges against Mustapha reads: “That you Alhaji Sule Lamido (while being Governor of Jigawa State, Nigeria), Aminu Sule Lamido, Mustapha Sule Lamido, Bamaina Holdings Limited, Bamaina Company Nigeria Limited, and Speeds International Limited between 15th October and 18th December, 2008 within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did convert an aggregate sum of N124,649,915 paid by Dantata and Sawoe Construction Company Nigeria Limited into the account of Speeds International Limited.”
Another charge read: “That you Alhaji Sule Lamido (while being the governor of Jigawa State, Nigeria), Aminu Sule Lamido, Mustapha Sule Lamido, Bamaina Holdings Limited, Bamaina Company Nigeria Limited and Speeds International Limited between 8th January and 10th December, 2013 within the jurisdiction of this Honbourable Court took possession of an aggregate sum of N101,580,300 paid by Dantata and Sawoe Construction Company Nigeria Limited into the account of Bamaina Holdings Limited.”
