The Palestinian ambassador to Nigeria, Abdallah Abu-Shawish, has said that Israel is not fighting Hamas but killing both Muslim and Christian Palestinians.
He said the Jewish state is making effort to forcefully usurp Palestinian land given to it by the United Kingdom in 1917, insisting that the war was not against Hamas.
Mr Abu-Shawish stated this when he visited the governor of Kano state, Abba Yusuf, in Kano on Wednesday, according to a statement by Aliyu Yusuf, director Public Enlightenment Government House, Kano.
The Palestinian envoy told Mr Yusuf, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Abdullahi Bichi that “Palestinians are not terrorists but fighting against Israel’s occupation of their land legally owned and resisting humanitarian injustice and maltreatment by Israel forces to them.”
Earlier, Mr Yusuf expressed optimism that emerging global consensus would be in favour of Palestine as the global communities intensified effort to halt the fight between the country and Israel that generates unrest.
The governor said with the level of increasing awareness on the Israel occupation of Palestine, coupled with the huge loss of lives and property, the world community must rise against the inhuman treatment meted against Gaza, killing hundreds of thousands of its people and destroying of properties.
The executive secretary of Islamic Forum of Nigeria, Salisu Shéhu, said the ambassador and his entourage came to Kano to attend a lecture on Palestine/Israel conflict coming up on Saturday, November 4 at Bayero University, Kano, organised by the forum.
