Ja’afaru Ahmed has bowed out of service as the Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCoS, following the expiration of his tenure.
Recall that Mr Jaafaru’s tenure was supposed to expire by July 21, 2020 but the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, had extended it by 6 months.
PRNigeria reports that a Deputy Comptroller-General, John Mrabure, who is the most senior officer in the service, has been appointed as the acting Comptroller-General of the service.
Mr Mrabure who until his appointment was in charge of the Human Resource Directorate of the NCoS, became a DCG in July 2019 when President Muhammadu Buhari approved the promotion of 10 senior officials of the paramilitary agencies under the Ministry of Interior.
Meanwhile, the pull-out ceremony for the outgoing CG is scheduled to take place on Thursday, January 21, at the NCS Headquarters in Abuja.
