The Jigawa State government on Monday said it had procured instructional materials worth N8 million for distribution to the 297 nomadic schools in the state.
The executive secretary of the state Agency for Nomadic Education, Ali Manu, told journalists in Dutse that the materials were procured for the 2015/2016 session.
Mr. Manu said the items included books, pencils, erasers, dusters, chalks and blackboards.
According to him, seats and mats worth over N5 million were also provided by the state government and distributed to the schools.
The executive secretary commended the government for the gesture, saying “it will go a long way in enhancing nomadic education in the state”.
Mr. Manu added that the gesture would also enhance school attendance among children of nomads in the state and boost literacy level of children at the grassroots.
