Dutse, the state capital of Jigawa state, stood still as people trooped in their numbers to witness the kick-off of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, campaign for this year’s elections.
Our correspondent observed that the event which witnessed a mammoth crowd from across the state and beyond was attended by the party bigwigs like the former governors of Jigawa, Niger and Kaduna – Sule Lamido, Babangida Aliyu, Ahmed Makarfi and Ramalan Yero respectively.
In his speech, Mr Lamido emphasised that the turn-out of supporters is historic, saying that the crowd has discredited assertions in some quarters that the party had gradually gone into extinction in the state.
According to him, the crowd was a clear indication that Nigerians are tired of the APC leadership and are ready to vote it out in the coming general election.
He, therefore, urged the party supporters to come out en masse to ensure the party’s victory in the coming election.
