Mr Dutse said the protest was a directive from the National Headquarters of the Union to show displeasure and disagree with the calls.

He said giving autonomy to the third tier of the government would create unnecessary hardship to teachers, especially when it comes to salary payment and other incentives.

The chairman expressed satisfaction with the current arrangements and explained that any move to temper with the status quo will affect the educational sector, especially at the grassroots level.
