Jon Jac, also known as the Last Prophet, is set to launch his new single titled God. Jon Jac, who hails from Benue State, has been into music for over 10 years. Music to him is a way of life. His dream is to touch lives through his Afrocentric, dance all music. To him, spreading the message of Jah is his purpose for living.
“I preach reality, positivity in our society,” he said.
He admits that making music, as a career, was not easy, as he has been plowing it alone without little or no support from anyone. “I have been having a lot of challenges trying to promote songs that I have done so far,” he said.
Jac said he has enjoyed some support from an Australian whom he featured in his previous single. It was the same person that introduced him to a record label in Australia, and he hopes to be signed up soon.
He hopes to reach out to anyone who believes in the existence of God, adding, “My message is all about truth and reality; my kind of music is God-given talent. When you listen to my songs, you would understand that it is not by my power to deliver such messages. These inspirations come to me in colours and I only deliver to people what God tells me to do.
“Life is all about contact and connection that there are some things you have little or no power over. I always believe that at God’s time, every dream will come to pass, and I know that this is the appointed time.”
Jon Jac would like to collaborate with other artists, but he has not had headway yet. However, Young D, the producer of Timaya’s music, has also produced some of his songs. He laments that discrimination is rife in the Nigerian music industry, saying, “Although some of the well known artistes are beginning to see the need to help upcoming ones, it has not been like that before. We see the likes of Olamide signing many artistes into his record label. This, I believe, is just the beginning as I have faith that a lot more artistes will do likewise in due time.”
Jon Jac also pointed at tribal sentiments, as another issue in the industry, adding, “Nigeria has been put in a circle, where one has to belong to a particular tribe, group or class to gain favour.”
On his projection for the future, he said, “People always refer to me as the Last Prophet, maybe that would count for something. I want to see myself being celebrated as the artiste, who preached the true gospel of God. That is, how do we see ourselves as one people? I believe my message will remain in the minds of people as a testimony, when the time comes.”
