The Jos Writers Club has described the second runner-up in the recently concluded BBC Hausa “Hikayata,” female short story competition, Aisha Sani-Abdullahi, as a worthy ambassador of the club.
The club made this known during a special event organised to celebrate her performance in the winning short story titled: “Tuwon Ƙasa”, which chronicles the struggles typical Hausa women are going through in the home-front.
The club chairman, Abba Abubakar-Yakubu, said the clud deemed it necessary to join the winner in expressing their happiness and gratitude to Allah for her achievement as their member.
He said: “Five hundred writers from Hausa speaking countries participated in the BBC Hausa Hikayata competition.
“So, for someone to scale to the final round of the competition is a serious contest that deserved to be honoured and also encourage others to do much better than is obtainable.”
According to him, the club also applauded Rabi’atu Ahmad Mu’azu, for emerging 9th out of the 500 contestants.
“Club members are also delighted seeing our members beginning to excel nationally and internationally.
“We also commended Rabi’atu Ahmad Mu’azu for scaling to semi final, in which 12 other stories were mentioned for highlighting issues that affect women in Hausa communities, with her story titled: ‘Haƙorin Dariya,” Mr Abba said.
The club presented plaque of award to Aisha Abdullahi Sani, for her outstanding performance.
The recipient, on her part, appreciated the writers’ club, saying that her achievement was a result of encouragement from all members.
“I am happy and this achievement is telling us to do more. I am also advising other female writers in the Club to strive to be winners in the forth coming BBC Hausa Hikayata competition,” she said.
