The Emir of Gaya, Ibrahim Abdulkadir, has died in Kano State.
Although there is no official announcement to that effect, sources close to the emirate told DAILY NIGERIAN that the mornach died in the early hours of Wednesday after a protracted illness.
Meanwhile, Abbas Ibrahim-Gaya, the Chairman, Media, in the Emirate, confirmed the death in Kano.
Mr Ibrahim-Gaya added that the late traditional ruler is survived by three wives, 28 children and many grandchildren.
Late Abdulkadir was the first Emir of Gaya, one of the four new first-class Emirates created by Kano state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, in 2019.
Mr Abdulkadir is believed to be around 90 years of age.
Prior to his appointment as the Emir of Gaya, the deceased was the district head of Kunchi and then Minjibir.
