Victoria Aguiyi-Ironsi, the wife of late Nigeria’s Head of State, J.T.U. Aguiyi-Ironsi, is dead.

Family sources told The Nation that the former First Lady died Monday morning at the age of 97.

Her husband, and the Supreme Commander of the National Military Government, was killed on July 29, 1966.
