Unknown gunmen have reportedly killed nine people during an attack Friday night at Tudun Wada area of Ruwan Baure ward in Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
A local source who confirmed the attack to DAILY NIGERIAN, via telephone chat, disclosed that several other persons including children sustained several degrees of injuries.
According to him, some of the injured ones were taken to Mada hospital while others with critical situations were taken to another hospital in Gusau town.
The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, added that herds of cattle and other domestic animals were also carted away by the bandits.
“This act of killings and kidnapping of persons have been going on in our area for more than one month now.
“We have been reporting to the police and other security agents but they would only come and go nothing concrete is being done to put a stop to these atrocities by the bandits.
“All we want is for the security personnel to be stationed permanently in the Ruwan Baure ward so that they could secure and protect the innocent people,” he appealed.
The source said the bodies of the 9 victims were buried Saturday morning.
Efforts to get comments from the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, stationed at Mada, as well as Police DCO in Gusau, yielded no results as calls to their phones were not responded to up to the time of filing this report.
