A Federal High Court, sitting in Kano State, on Wednesday, sacked Sha’aban Sharada as the candidate for the Kano Municipal Federal Constituency in the forthcoming general elections.
Mr Sharada, the Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Broadcast Media, contested and won the ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC for the House of Representatives seat.
But, the presiding Judge, Justice Sa’adatu Ibrahim, in a ruling said the last year’s primary election that produced Sha’aban Sharada was faulty.
She, therefore, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to recognize Mukhtar Ishaq Yakasai as the duly elected APC candidate of the Kano Municipal Federal Constituency in the general election.
Recall that Mr Yakasai, a former Chairman of Kano Municipal Council, instituted a case against Mr Sharada on the ground that he was the person duly elected at the APC primary election but was replaced with Mr Sharada.
But, amidst the ongoing court case, the state governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, recently appointed Yakasai as a Commissioner for Special Duties.
