Some gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted the Nasarawa State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Philip Shekwo, at his residence in the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Bola Longe, who confirmed the incidence, said Mr Shekwo was abducted around 11 pm.
The CP said: “Unidentified gunmen in large number stormed the resident of the APC Chairman in Lafia around 11 O’clock in the evening, last night and took him away to an unknown destination.”
Mr Longe added that security agencies had commence search operations, adding that the APC chairman would be rescued unhurt.
“We reacted swiftly by deploying personnel to different forest locations in the state to ensure safe release of the APC Chairman,” Mr Longe said in a statement Sunday morning.
