UPDATED: Omo-Agege sworn-in as Deputy Senate President

Ovie Omo-Agege, the Senator representing Delta Central District in the National Assembly, has been sworn-in as the Deputy Senate President for the 9th assembly.

The oath of office was administered on Mr Omo-Agege by the Clark of the National Assembly, Mohammed Sani-Omolori.

Mr Omo-Agege got 68 votes as against Senator Ike Ikweremadu who polled 39 votes during the election.

Mr Omo-Agege, a lawyer, is from Orogun in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

Recall that the National Working Committee, NWC, of the All Progressives Congress, APC, had formally adopted Mr Omo-Agege for the position of Deputy Senate President of the 9th National Assembly.

Lanre Issa-Onilu, APC National Publicity Secretary in a statement on Monday in Abuja, said the decision was taken after consultations with President Muhammadu Buhari, party stakeholders, and APC State Governors.
