The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to cancel the rerun election currently going on in Kano State.
Addressing journalists Saturday afternoon, the Acting State Chairman of the PDP, Rabiu Suleiman Bichi, alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state, had mobilized thugs to take over all the 208 polling units slated for the rerun.
According to him, PDP agents were denied access to the polling units and most of them were beaten and driven away.
He, therefore, described the exercise as a “charade,” saying “what we have in Kano is nothing but sham”.
“These thugs are imported from Zamfara, Katsina, Kaduna, Plateau and other neighboring states.
“These thugs are armed to teeth and posing as electorates of those localities’ polling units,” Bichi has said.
He added that the thugs freely vote with PVCs that do not belong to them and some posing as the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, staff.
“As I address you now, we have reports that some of our agents have been killed, vehicles burnt, property destroyed in Doguwa, Nasarawa, Minjibir, Dala and Tudun Wada Local government areas.
“These with other infractions made us to completely lose faith in the whole exercise and therefore, call on INEC to cancel this election,” Mr Bichi stated.
