JUST IN: Kano court restrains Aminu Ado-Bayero, 4 others from parading selves as emirs

A Kano State High Court, presided over by Justice Amina Aliyu, has perpetually restrained the deposed emir of Kano, Aminu Bayero, from parading himself as emir of Kano.

The court also restrained the other four emirs of Bichi, Gaya, Karaye and Rano, who were deposed alongside Mr Bayero by the new Kano Emirate law, from parading themselves as emirs.

Delivering judgement on Monday over the case filed by Kano state government, Justice Aliyu further restrained the 15th Emir of Kano and the four other emirs, along with their servants, privies, and any other persons appointed by them, from parading themselves in their former capacities as Emirs of Kano, Bichi, Gaya, Rano, and Karaye.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the state government had prayed the court to stop the Mr Bayero and four other emirs of Karaye, Bichi, Rano and Gaya from parading themselves as emirs

On the issue of evicting the deposed emir from the Nassarawa royal residence as threatened by the state government, the court said it is a rent tribunal matter.

She, however, directed Mr Bayero and four other emirs to quickly hand over all the royal artifacts to the government and Emir Muhammadu Sanusi ll.

The judge also averred that the Kano State Emirate Council Repeal Law 2024 was done according to the law as enshrined in section 4 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
