An NNPP member representing Tarauni Federal Constituency, Mukhtar Umar Zakari (Yarima), has reclaimed seat at the Court of Appeal on Saturday.
In August, the election of Mr Zakari was invalid by the National and State House of Assembly elections petition tribunal in Kano.
The Justice I.P. Chima-led tribunal had declared Mr Yerima ineligible for presenting a forged copy of his primary school certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
But the appellate court disagreed with the tribunal, saying the tribunal had failed to establish a case of forgery.
The court held that the respondents, who were petitioners at the tribunal, failed to prove that Mr Yarima was not the same person who attended the school and was awarded the certificate.
The panel consequently set aside the judgment of the tribunal, allowed the appeal and affirmed Zakari’s election victory.
