JUST IN: Terrorists kill 16 worshippers in Niger

Terrorists, often referred to as bandits have killed 16 people who were performing their morning prayers in a mosque in Ba’are village in Mashegu Local Government Area of Niger State.

According to a report by The Nation, the incident occurred on Wednesday morning when the bandits stormed the village on motorcycles and headed for the mosque where they killed and injured the worshippers.

Ten others who were injured are currently receiving treatment in the Kontagora General Hospital.

The Niger State Commissioner of Police, Monday Bala Kuryas, confirmed the incident in a telephone interview with the newspaper.

He said nine people and not 16 died in the attack, adding that additional security personnel has been drafted to the area.
