The Senator representing Kano South in the National Assembly, Kabiru Gaya, has thrown the gauntlet to contest for the Deputy Senate Presidency in the incoming 9th Senate in June.
Mr Gaya, a member of the governing All Progressives Congress, APC, is, however, running against the party’s resolve to zone the position to the South-Southern part of the country.
A former Kano governor, Mr Gaya is spending a third term in the Senate, having been first elected into the Senate in 2007.
