The lawmaker representing Sabon Gari State Constituency, Aminu Shagali has resigned his position as the Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly.

The speaker resigned following rumour that some members of the assembly were planning to impeach him today.

Speaking on his resignation, the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Tanimu Musa, said the speaker “honourably tendered his resignation”.

NAN reports that the former speaker would continue his normal duties as a member of the assembly.

Recall that Mr Shagali was elected Speaker of the State’s 5th Assembly on 8 June 2015.
