The National Chairman, Council of Ulama of the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Ikamatis Sunnah, JIBWIS, Sheikh Sani Yahaya-Jingir, has cautioned the Nigerian Military over the bombing of Muslim worshippers in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Mr Jingir, while addressing newsmen on Tuesday, said the killing of innocent Nigerians by the Military was totally unacceptable, and must be stopped.
The Islamic cleric called on the Military hierarchy and the Federal Government to investigate the incident.
According to him, Allah will hold leadership to account for each and every life lost or injured during their term in office.
“Since the military has owned up to the bombardment, should we say it was intentional?,” he asked.
According to him, if eventually the incident occurred as a “mistaken identity”, then the matter must not only be investigated, but those that conducted the bombings should also be punished.
“The military, the SSS, the police, the customs, the immigration, must evaluate their activities, so that bad ones amongst them could not spoil the ethics of their work.
“The Federal Government should put up a strong investigative committee to come out with what had actually happened.
“Those found culpable should be punished. This government should not say it is leaving it to Allah, don’t leave it to Allah, because Allah has ordained that offenders must be punished,” he said.
Mr Jingir stressed that any leader must protect the lives of his people, saying that punishing those that killed innocent citizens is one quality of leadership.
“Justice should be served on the deceased persons’ right to life,” he said.
According to him, Allah abhors the killing of innocent lives, either Muslims, Christians or even atheists.
