A Kaduna-based Information Communication Technology, ICT, expert, Najeeb Ibrahim-Kafur, has launched an online shopping site named Najeebmall.
In a statement issued on Friday, Mr Ibrahim-Kafur, revealed that the online marketplace enables small and medium scale traders to create a virtual store and list their products for sale without paying any sales commission.
According to him, the platform is created to rival Jumia, another online market place, that has been around for nine years.
“Unlike other available e-commerce platforms like Jumia and Konga that charge sellers up to 10% commission on each sale made, Najeebmall only charges monthly subscription fee for its services to the sellers,” said the developer.
Mr Ibrahim-Kafur lamented that small scale traders profits are limited due to the large cut-out taken by marketplace operators, saying that such practice forced the traders to sell their products on Whatsapp, “unlike Najeebmall where traders will have a larger market”.
“With the current trend in the e-commerce industry where big marketplace operators take large cut out of sellers’ profit as commission and service charges, small scale traders are left with no option than to sell on their WhatsApp status.
“When you sell on WhatsApp status, you are limiting your market to only your family and friends who have your mobile number, and you need to be constantly re-uploading your products every 24 hours. This is very frustrating.”
“With Najeebmall, sellers just need to visit www.najeebmall.com on any internet connected device and click on the apply button to signup, create their online shop and add their products. It’s that simple,” he explained.
