The Kano State House of Assembly, on Tuesday, appealed to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje-led government to repair the bridge linking five local government areas of the state to avoid sudden collapse.
This followed the adoption of a motion of urgent public importance by Nuruddeen Alhassan-Ahmed (APC-Rano) at plenary presided by Speaker Abdulazeez Garba-Gafasa.
According to him, the bridge located in Dan-Hassan town linking Kura, Bunkure, Kibiya, Rano, Sumaila and Tudun Wada LGAs requires serious attention.

“As a matter of urgency, we want the state government to come to the aide of the people of the area, as the collapse of the bridge can affect the economy of the affected LGAs.
“The present condition of the bridge which is as a result of heavy rain is worrisome, the people of the affected areas use to have such experience every rain season.
“Therefore, I am calling on Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje to come to the aide of the communities before the collapse of the bridge, in order not to affect business, farming and other activities in the areas,” he said.
It was gathered that after series of deliberations by the lawmakers, the house unanimously adopted the motion and called on the government to take action on the issue.
Similarly, the house also called on the government to construct a bridge at Romo village in Bagwai LGA of the state.
This was sequel to a motion by Ali Ibrahim-Isa (APC-Bagwai/Shanono).
According to him if the bridge and the road which linked Dokadawa, Romo and Kiyawa communities in Shanono LGA are constructed, it will assist in boosting the economy of the areas.
