The Kano State Censorship Board has suspended and revoked the operating license of a popular Kannywood actress, Samha Inuwa, over alleged violation of the board’s regulations on indecent dressing, vulgar content posting, among others.
The board said the suspension followed complaints from concerned citizens about her “revealing dress and provocative videos.”
The suspension was contained in a statement issued by the board’s spokesman, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman.
The board revealed that Ms Inuwa had ignored several warnings issued to her over “crude dressing, vulgar displays, and language in some videos.”
Mr Sulaiman emphasised that the actress’ conduct had violated cultural and moral standards.
“Kano State Censorship Board is empowered by law to ensure that all videos, writings, and other forms of expression align with the state’s religion, culture, norms, and values.
The spokesman maintained that the punitive measures are part of the board’s ongoing efforts to uphold moral standards in the Kannywood film industry and enforce the board’s regulations.
