Kano LG chairman-elect, Ali Namadi, dies

Barely three days after being elected as Executive Chairman of Bebeji Local Government Area of Kano State, Ali Namadi, is dead.

Sources said Mr Namadi died at about 1:00 am on Tuesday after a brief illness at Bebeji General Hospital.

DAILY NIGERIAN gathered that the Chairman-elect fell sick a day after the local government election.

It was also gathered that the deceased drove himself to the hospital to see a doctor, but due to his body condition, he was advised to stay there for proper treatment but passed away there.

In a terse statement on Tuesday, the Publicity Secretary of Mr Namadi’s campaign team, Ibrahim Adamu-Tiga, said the deceased would be buried in Bebeji town on Tuesday morning.

Mr Namadi was among the 44 candidates of All Progressives Congress, APC, who were elected as Local Government chairmen on Saturday, January 16.

The state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, is yet to fix a date for the swearing-in of the 44 newly elected Local Government chairmen and 484 councillors.
