At least six members of the Kano State Covid-19 committee have tested positive for Coronavirus, credible sources have confirmed to DAILY NIGERIAN.
The sources said the affected members have already been taken to the state isolation centre at Kwanar Dawaki on the outskirt of the city for treatment.
It was gathered that the discovery has jolted the 14-member committee on Thursday night as the co-chairman of the committee and deputy governor of the state, Nasiru Gawuna, shelved a scheduled meeting of the committee “till further notice”.
“The co-chairman of the committee has tested positive, just as two medical doctors in the committee have tested positive for the virus,” said the source.
Officially, 26 people have tested positive for the deadly disease in Kano, according to Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC.
“As at 10:20 pm 16th April there are 442 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. 152 have been discharged with 13 deaths.
