Kano State Fire Service says it has saved 120 lives and property worth N70 million in 31 fire incidents in the state in the past one month.

Saidu Muhammad, Public Relations Officer of the Service, stated this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Kano.

Muhammad disclosed that the fire incidents were recorded between Aug. 1 and 31, in various parts of the state.

He said that eight lives were lost and properties worth N12.5 million destroyed by fire in the period under review.

“The Service respond to 79 rescue calls and 12 false alarms from residents of the state during the month of August,” he said.

Muhammad identified careless handling of cooking gas, use of inferior electrical appliances and poor wiring as the major causes of fire incidents in the state.
