The Kano State Government has constituted a five-member committee to fast track re-opening of boarding schools across the state.
This is contained in a statement by Aliyu Yusuf, director, Public Enlightenment, Kano State Ministry of Education, on Monday in Kano.
It quoted the commissioner for Education, Umar Haruna-Doguwa as saying that the reopening of the schools became necessary considering its importance in the education system.
“The closure of the schools by the immediate past administration would be investigated with a view to find out the reasons for taking such decision.
“The committee will come up with facts on why and how the schools were closed down at a time when more its kind are needed to accommodate the teeming students of the state.
“It would report to the ministry the current position of the schools as per infrastructure, physical structures and thier security,” Haruna-Doguwa was quoted as saying in the statement.
He reitrated the government commitment towards ensuring sound policies and programmes to raise standard in the education sector.
