PRESS RELEASE 20/9/2017
The Office of the Head of Civil Service Kano State has during the monthly update of MDAs Salaries/allowances discovered fraudulent increase in the payment of monthly salaries to some staff under Hospitals Management Board (HMB) and the Kano State Senior Secondary Schools Management Board (KSSSSMB) in connivance with some computer centre staff and two other staff on posting from the Office of the Auditor-General, State. Findings have revealed that the increase is being shared on agreed formula which over a couple of months runs into N12.7 million naira.
So far 22 cases from HMB and 2 no from KSSSSMB have been established, the State Head of Civil Service, Muhammad Awwal Na`iya said already the affected officers have been issued with queries and appropriate disciplinary action is being taken by their organizations in line with relevant Civil Service Rules and Regulation and they would be handed over to the police for prosecution.
Meanwhile, a forensic auditing/analysis of the entire state payroll is being pursued in order to ensure that all such cases are identified and culprits are brought to book. It has therefore, become necessary to call upon all civil servants, especially those that are either conniving with the perpetrators of the fraudulent activities or erroneously-overpaid, should return the money immediately and get relevant treasury receipt of which a copy is to be submitted to Salary and wages Directorate of the office of the Head of Civil Service.
Na`iya said It has also been established that a fake communication is being circulated that the CONHESS salary in respect of non-medical and Health workers under Hospital Management Board (HMB) has been restored. The said communication is false and has no basis what so ever, as the case is still pending before a competent court of law.
The Head of Civil Service Muhammad Awwal Na`iya enjoined on all civil servants to continue to support and cooperate with the present administration under the able leadership of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, OFR, Governor of Kano State, in consideration that since its inception, it has sustained payment of monthly salary and pension promptly as well as promotion of staff and catering for the overall welfare of the teeming civil servants in the state.
