The Kano Electricity Distribution Company, KEDCO, has explained the persistent power outage in Kano, Katsina and Jigawa States, saying power generation in the country has dropped to 1,973 megawatts.

“The Management of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), hereby notify its valued customers in Kano, Katsina and Jigawa States that the protracted power outages currently being experienced across our franchise area is as a result of low power generation.
“As at today, power generation in the whole country stands at 1,973 megawatts and our allocation hovers around 40 megawatts lately.
“We sincerely regret the inconveniences and discomfort this unfortunate development is causing our valued customers. We hope the situation improves from the generation companies so that we serve our customers better.
“While we profoundly thank our valued customers for their understanding and patience, we assure them that all hands are on deck to ensure improved service delivery,” said the statement.
