Murtala Kore, a member representing Dambatta constituency in the Kano House of Assembly, has made a U-turn on his defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC to New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP.
Also, the chairman of Dambatta Local Government area, Mohammed Kore, had rescinded his decision to join the opposition party.
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the duo of Messrs Kore and Kore announced their defection to NNPP alongside the Chief of Staff to Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, Ali Makoda, on Thursday.
However, the duo were heard in a viral audio clip on Sunday, retracting their earlier stand on joining NNPP, saying “we are still in APC”.
The lawmaker said, “I want to inform the general public that I am still in APC, the party of Baba Ganduje, Buhari, Nasiru Gawuna, Murtala Sule Garo and other stakeholders.
“Despite a minor issue that occured about three days ago, I want to restate my loyalty to APC. We made a wrong decision in haste but now the matter has been resolved amicably.
“I am still in APC and call on every APC member in Dambatta Local Government to come out and give maximum contribution towards the success of the party in 2023 at all level.
“I apologize to all and sundry about what happened. I assure you that everything has been resolved now,” he said.
On his part, the Dambatta Council Chairman said “I, alongside my deputy, Hamisu Magaji Galadima, want to announce that we did not defect to NNPP. We are still in APC.
“We will remain in the party and make sure it wins the 2023 election at all levels.
“We are pioneer members of APC and remain in it. What happened about three days ago was a wrong decision but now we are back into our true home.
“We pledge our unflinching loyalty to His Excellency, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and our candidate, Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna and his running mate, Murtala Sule Garo,” he said.
