The Kano State governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has taunted his predecessor and political archenemy, Rabiu Kwankwaso, for hiring only “one lawyer that stammers” in his bid to stop the conduct of the forthcoming local government election in the state.

Addressing candidates for the local government election on Monday, Mr Ganduje said although his predecessor had only one lawyer to defend the Kwankwasiyya movement, the state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice had gone to court with seven Senior Advocates Nigeria, SANs.

“Despite the money you spent on this election, the house-to-house campaign, day and night campaign, the cold you braved in the morning, the storm you weathered in the noon, the campaign toil in the scorching sun, but Kwankwasiyya went to court to stop this election. Do you see them as our friends?

“And now they want us to reconcile. Why should we reconcile? On what basis?

“Right now the commissioner for justice is in Abuja, battling with them in them court. We hired seven lawyers who are Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs), but they went to court with just one lawyer who stammers. How could he defeat us?

“They also filed a case here (in Kano) against the conduct of the (local government) election. We have 12 lawyers lodged in a hotel and they are given food and drinks. The begowned lawyers have with them bulky (legal) books to boot.

“The judgement will be delivered tomorrow (today). So you should keep vigil till dawn. God is behind the innocent. And we know we stand by the truth.

“They (Kwankwasiyya) traverse the nooks and crannies of the country saying if we did not reconcile with them, we will not win election. This really baffles me. This is merely a tale. This is just a fib. This is sheer lie. So crazy, bunkum, hogwash…

“On this note, we parted ways with Kwankwasiyya forever,” he added.
