A Federal High Court sitting in Kano has dismissed a suit filed by a Kano State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP faction led by a former Nigerian Ambassador to China, Aminu Wali, challenging the conduct of state and local government congresses.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the case was filed seeking an order to stop a former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso led faction from conducting local government and state congresses for the party in Kano.

In his judgment Wednesday, Justice Lewis Allagoa declared that the case is status barred, having been filed 85 days ahead of time.

Speaking shortly after the judgment, counsel to PDP, Barr. Bashir Yusuf said, they were not surprised by the judgment.

Mr Yusuf said: “By this court ruling, PDP can conduct its pending congresses at state and local government levels.”

This development came when the Danladi Abdulhamid Kagara led Caretaker Committee issued a statement last week confirming the party’s decision not to participate in the forthcoming local government election.

Recall that the Wali’s camp had announced its candidates for all positions in the local government election, despite the decision of the Kwankwaso led faction of the party not participate in the elections.
