The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced the commencement of the 2020 Hajj registration.
The announcement was made by the Executive Secretary of the board, Muhammad Danbatta, during a media briefing at his office on Wednesday.
According to him, any person who is willing to perform Hajj in 2020 should pay an initial deposit of N1.2 million before the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, determine the main Hajj fare.
He stated that the initial deposit would be enough for all the registration processes of an intending pilgrim, explaining that the remaining amount to be paid by a pilgrim might not be more than the Basic Travel Allowance, BTA, and other few services.
Mr Danbatta added that the 2020 Hajj fare was arrived at by considering the price of dollar in foreign exchange market and the services to be rendered for a pilgrim in Makkah and Medina.

The ES also disclosed that the commencement of the registration was directed by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, following a request by the board at the presentation of the 2019 Hajj report at the government house on Tuesday.
“The N1. 2 million initial deposit will surely be enough for all the registration processes up to the issuing of visa for an intending pilgrim.
“The remaining balance, which will be determined by the NAHCON, will not be more than the money for BTA and other expenses in Saudi Arabia.
“Therefore, I wish to call on the people of Kano who want to pay for themselves or pay for their loved ones to pay initial deposit of N1. 2 million at a bank,” he said.
