Residents in some Kano communities have taken to streets to protest the Thursday’s ruling by the state High Court nullifying the four newly created emirates by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.
Recall that on May 8, Mr Ganduje assented to a controversial law establishing four additional emirates with first-class emirs in Bichi, Rano, Karaye and Gaya.
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that on Thursday, a Kano High Court presided by Justice Usman Na’Abba had dissolved four additional emirates and first-class emirs created by Kano State Government.

According to a report by the Premium Times, the protest is going on at the four new emirates.
In Karaye, one of the newly created emirates, the residents carried placards showing their grievances at the judgment.
“Leave us in our new emirate, the Karaye emirate,” one of the placards reads.
Another placard reads: “The people of Karaye are in support of the new emirate.”
According to the newspaper, a similar protest is ongoing in Gaya Emirate.
