A former Speaker of Kano State House of Assembly and chairman, House Committee on Pension, Kabiru Rurum, has dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that in a telephone interview, Mr Rurum, a gubernatorial aspirant in APC, had informed journalists in Kano on Sunday that he is not happy with the way politics is being played in the party in the state.
According to him, internal democracy had collapsed in the party as some people are hellbent in selecting candidates without following democratic processes to take place.
He said he had done all he could to ensure level playing field is allowed in the course of party politicking but the powers that be prevented that.
Mr Rurum said “it is unfair at this dispensation to deny Kano South the chance to produce the next Governor, as they have not got the chance since 1992.”
He said he is considering joining forces with Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso’s New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP to ensure that Kano South Senatorial District are carried along in the politics of the state.
