Kano State government has assured civil servants in the state that their salaries would be paid before Eid-el-Fitr celebration, expectedly from March 25.
The Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Faruk Ibrahim, disclosed this while addressing newsmen in Kano on Monday.
DAILY NIGERIAN reports that the press conference was organized to brief the general public about the efforts being put in place by the state government to avoid discrepancies recorded during the payment of February salaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ibrahim said the government was aware of the approaching Eid-el-Fitr festival and would ensure the payment of the March salaries before the festivities.
According to him, civil servants in the state are to validate their salaries for the month of March before payment, to guard against any discrepancies in the process as recorded previously.
Mr Ibrahim said the measure was necessitated by workers’ complaints of discrepancies including deductions in their January and February salaries.
He said the workers had been instructed through their Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, to endeavour to verify the salaries put on their names and report any observed discrepancy for necessary action.
He said the workers’ salary lists would be pasted at strategic places in the premises of the MDAs and the secretariats of the 44 local government area in the state to facilitate the process.
The SSG said a committee had been set up to address the reported discrepancies in the workers’ salaries.
