The Katsina State Basic Universal Education Board, SUBEB, has disclosed that it enrolled 1,714,757 pupils into public primary schools across the state in 2017.
The Secretary of the board, Ishaq Bello, said during an interview in Katsina on Tuesday.
“The number of pupils enrolled in public pre-primary and primary schools included 930,410 males and 784,347 females in the state,’’ he said.
Mr Bello stated that the government employed 21,870 teachers in which 16,627 were male while 5,249 were female teachers.
According to him, the board has 2,458 equipped public primary schools across the 34 Local Government Areas of the state.
“The state government has provided enough teaching and learning materials in all primary schools.
“The state government also provided school records such as class attendance registers, admission registers, text books, exercise books and chalks,” he said.
Mr Bello added that Dana Steel Rolling Mill has started free feeding of 1, 000 pupils in Batagarawa Local Government Area, as part of its community service.
He said that the company selected two primary schools in the area and was offering breakfast to them daily.
