Katsina varsity names clinic after Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo

The Federal University Dutsinma, FUDMA, in Katsina State has named its clinic after the Founder and President of the Maryam Abacha American University of Niger, MAAUN, Prof. Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo.

The Vice-Chancellor of FUDMA, Prof. Armayau Hamisu-Bichi disclosed this on Monday during the official unveiling of the clinic located at the university’s permanent site in Dutsinma.

According to the V-C, the decision, which was unanimously approved by the FUDMA governing council, followed Mr Gwarzo’s tremendous support and magnanimity to the university.

“Besides the Federal and Katsina State governments, no one has ever supported or assisted the university like Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo since its establishment.

“Professor Adamu Abubakar Gwarzo is a humble and God-fearing young man who uses his wealth for the social and economic development of mankind, and for the support of people with low income,” Mr Bichi said.

While commending the MAAUN President for his support to FUDMA, the V-C said the university has benefited from a number of assistance from Mr Gwarzo, including a luxurious bus worth millions of Naira for students’ shuttle in the University.

In addition, the V-C said, Mr Gwarzo had also provided the university with furniture, UNESCO books, and an ambulance to the university clinic.

Mr Bichi, therefore, prayed to God to continue to uplift Mr Gwarzo and his family as well as give him the strength to keep empowering the youth through the provision of quality and sound education.

Earlier in his remarks, Prof. Gwarzo thanked the university management for naming the facility after him, promising to work towards securing international accreditation for the university.

According to him, international accreditation will avail the university the opportunity to compete with other universities across the globe, saying that universities that lack such accreditation are always considered a local universities.

He also promised to assist the university to be registered under UNESCO, saying that very soon the university would be the second to be under UNESCO in the country.

He disclosed that all staffers at the Department of French in the university will be given an automatic Ph.D. scholarship at the Maryam Abacha American University, Niger Republic.
