Kebbi federal varsity gets 3 new Professors, 3 Associates

The Governing Council of Federal University, Birnin Kebbi has approved the promotion of 3 lecturers to the rank of Professors and 3 others to Associate Professors.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the university, Jamilu M. Magaji, said the promotion was approved during the council meeting on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the promotions take effect from January, 2022.

Mr Magaji added that the Council upheld the recommendations of External Assessors as well as that of the Senior Staff Appointment and Promotion Committee, SSAPC, to effect the promotions.

The newly-promoted Professors are Dr. Aliyu Abdullahi Turaki (Molecular Biology), Dr. Abbas Yusuf Bazata (Food and Industrial Microbiology) and Dr. Abdulaziz Shehu (Development Economics).

According to the statement, Prof. Aliyu Turaki is the current Director of Academic Planning and Deputy Director, School of Postgraduate Studies.

While Prof. Abbas Bazata is the Director, Biosciences Research Institute (Centre of Excellence) and Branch Chairman of ASUU

Prof. Abdulaziz Shehu is a seasoned Development Economist and Lecturer in the Department of Economics.

Those promoted to the rank of Associate Professors are Dr. Muhammad Muazu Yusuf (Development Economics), Dr. Victoria Ogunnike Faleke (Pragmatics and Multimodal) and Dr. Yahaya Tajudeen (Genetics and Toxicology).

Congratulating the lecturers on their new rank, the Council enjoined the academics to continue with their good services to the University, Nigeria and humanity at large.
