The wife of Kebbi state governor Dr Zainab Bagudu, has urged youths in the North West to shun thuggery during and after the 2019 general election.
Mrs Bagudu, who is the Coordinator of Presidential Campaign Team, PCT, for the North West gave the advice while speaking at a news conference in Birnin Kebbi on Monday.
She said youths should not allow themselves to be used by politicians to carry out such acts or engage in violence of any kind before, during and after the upcoming general election.
“President Muhammadu Buhari has come up with numerous projects in order to encourage youths and women to be self -reliant and become productive members of the society.
“Among these projects, we have the school feeding programme for primary school pupils, the N-Power programme, under which some unemployed graduates are being gainfully engaged and are earning N30,000 monthly.
“There is also conditional cash transfer scheme, which is being executed through the office of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, ” she said.
The coordinator also reminded youths that they were leaders of tomorrow, who have the potential to contribute to the society productively.
She, however, expressed her commitment to ensuring women and youths in the North West vote for All Progressives Congress, APC, candidates both at the national and the states’ levels in the coming election.
“A time table has been drawn for our campaign and we will go round the states to show the youth and women what APC is doing and will want to complete if given the chance in 2019.
“As well as proper way of voting in order to avoid the incidence of invalid votes,’’ she said.
