Kidnapped Plateau traditional ruler released unconditionally – Police

The kidnapped traditional ruler in Plateau State, David Isah Dongbam, has been “unconditionally” released, the state’s Police Command has confirmed.

Recall that Mr Dongbam, a second-class chief of the Dorock Kingdom of Shandam Local Government Area of the state, was kidnapped November 19 by unknown persons.

But, Police spokesman in the state, Tyopev Terna, disclosed that the traditional ruler was released at about 0010hrs of today (Saturday).

According to Mr Terna, the abductors had no other option than to release the paramount ruler unconditionally considering how the police were inching on them.

“He has since been examined by some medical doctors and given a clean bill of health (he is in perfect health condition).

“His unconditional release became necessary when his Kidnappers noticed that our men (Police Personnel) were closing in on them and the only option left for them was to release their victim,” he added.

The spokesman, therefore, commended the “good people of Plateau State for their patience and, in particular, the Dorock Kingdom for their understanding and confidence in the Police by allowing us to carry out our search and rescue operation without interference.
