The wife and six children of Zamfara State commissioner for Youth and Sports, Abdullahi Gurbin-Baure, have been released after payment of N10million ransom, DAILY NIGERIAN can report.

On May 21, gunmen abducted Mr Gurbin-Baure’s wife, three children and three other relatives in his Gurbin-Baure village.

Although Mr Gurbin-Baure declined to comment on the payment of the ransom, he told DAILY NIGERIAN that his family returned home hale and hearty on Sunday evening.

“All I can say is that my family returned home safely yesterday (Sunday) and they are all certified healthy by doctors,” he said.

But credible sources said the captives were released by the abductors after rounds of negotiations, culminating in payment of N10million ransom.

The spokesman for the state police command, Muhammad Shehu, is yet to return DAILY NIGERIAN call at the time of filing in this report.

Gurbin Baure is a boarder town along the Katsina-Zamfara border and on the other hand sharing boundary with Niger Republic.
