3 killed, 2 injured in Bauchi road crash – FRSC

The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, in Bauchi State has confirmed that three persons died in Tuesday’s auto crash on the Bauchi-Gombe Road.

The Sector Commander, Yusuf Abdullahi, made the confirmation on Wednesday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Bauchi.

Mr Abdullahi said that two other persons sustained serious injuries in the accident, which occurred around 8.30 p.m., when two vehicles had a head-on collision.

He said that it took the corps barely 26 minutes to arrive at the scene of the crash.

According to him, the accident involved an Opel Vectra car, with Reg. No. DSA 120 AA and a Toyota Hiace, with Reg. No. GME 74 YX.

Mr Abdullahi blamed the accident on a burst tyre in one of the vehicles, adding that the Toyota Hiace immediately went up in flames.

He said: “Six people were involved in the crash and they are all males.

“Three died on the spot, two sustained injuries and one was unhurt.”

He said the injured persons were taken to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital for treatments, while the remains of the deceased were deposited in the morgue.

Mr Abdullahi advised motorists to ensure that all their vehicle parts were in good condition before embarking on a journey.

“Motorists should always be conscious of road traffic rules and regulations as well as weather conditions at all times.
