A local media outlet on Thursday reported that a man armed with a knife attacked officers at police headquarters in Paris and was shot dead by the police.
According to reports, the attacker entered the building and attacked a police officer, wounding him with his weapon.
The perpetrator was then shot by the police officer with his service weapon. The motives of the attacker are still unknown.
Local media reports that two or three policemen were wounded during the attack.
Transport authority also reported that the Paris metro station `Cité’ has been closed for security reasons.
The perimeter around the nearby police headquarters was also cordoned off.
French Interior Minister Christophe Castaner is on his way to the police headquarters.
