The Chairman of Kuje Area Council, FCT, Hon. Abdullahi Sulieman Sabo has called for more tolerance, unity and peaceful coexistence among the residents of Kuje.
Sabo made this known at a press briefing after a peace and security meeting on Tuesday saying that it has become necessary to shun every criminal tendencies and social vices inimical to the peaceful coexistence of the people.
He said this has become important because the collaboration between Kuje Area Council and the security agencies would make it impervious for criminals to operate peacefully in the council.
According to him, the meeting has taken stocks and design better strategies of securing Kuje environ, most especially the incessant herders/farmers clashes and kidnapping in the country.
“The Council has had its share of security challenges in recent times with the displacement of the insurgents in the north east, who have found refuge in FCT and its environs.
“The roles of vigilante groups is key in security management in some of our localities and there is need for more vibrant synergy with security agencies in the area.
“We are also requesting for an increase of out-post and direct posting of men to Kabin Mangoro where we have unoccupied structures,” he said.
The chairman revealed that the Area Council is drawing up measures to bring Okada riders in kuje under one umbrella as is has been alleged that most crimes are committed through this medium.
However, he maintained that the need for more vibrant synergy cannot be overemphasised as the council was sensitising the people on the importance of giving vital information to security agencies with a promise to protect the identity of the informants.
