Kuwait and Saudi Arabia reached a deal on Tuesday over a disputed border area, known as the Neutral Zone, where several oil fields are located, Kuwait’s news agency KUNA reported.
The two countries signed an agreement and a memorandum of understanding, KUNA reported, without providing details on the deal.
Production was halted around five years ago at the two jointly-operated oil fields in the Neutral Zone, located at Kuwait’s southern border with Saudi Arabia.

On Twitter, Kuwaiti Minister of Oil Khaled al-Fadhel praised the agreement and the resumption of oil production in the area.
Al-Khafji and al-Wafra oilfields produced around 500,000 barrels per day, which amounts to 0.5 per cent of global oil supply.
