A statement by his spokesperson, Binta Spikin, said the senator is still loyal to the APC, and that he has no reason to leave the party.

He however accused his successor, Abdullahi Ganduje, of conspiring with a former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, to form a new party.

“It has been brought to our attention, that some political appicunadoes (sic) have been employed to spread unfounded lies and malicious allegations on the person of Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso.

“To set the record straight, I want to declare that Senator Kwankwaso remain (sic) in the APC, and as is his trademark, he is loyal to any course (sic) he believes in. Such is the case with the APC. Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso have (sic) always stood for  truth and justice,  as he has always done for the improvement of quality of lives for the masses, which is what the APC Government, under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari stands for.

“However, what is true is that  it has been brought to our attention that Governor Ganduje of Kano State have (sic) been working with the Makarfi faction of the PDP and Alh Atiku Abubakar (Turakin Adamawa), and from what we know, they are trying to float a new party, the APDP.

“This is not surprising considering the antecedents that leads (sic) to it.

“It is a well known fact that Governor Ganduje is not happy with the APC’s style of leadership and its commitment to stand on the side of the truth. This is evident in the letter the national leadership of the APC sent to Kano, reaffirming the chairmanship of Umar Haruna Doguwa as the substantive chairman of the party as against the government’s  imposed leadership of Alh Abdullahi Abbas, which is against the party constitution. The good people of Kano State commend this internal democracy as displayed by the APC. Unfortunately, It led to this development, where the sitting Governor wants (him) out. This is the genesis of the rumour, so as to create unncessary confusion, divert people’s attention from real issues and create disaffection within the APC.

“For this reason, we find it necessary to explain to our esteemed members and the public that Senator Kwankwaso has no reason to leave the APC. He remains loyal to the course (sic) of the great party. He remains committed to the Nigerian course (sic), and urge (sic) Nigerians to remain calm and not get distracted by this cheap politicking.

“We pray for the continued success of this Government. May Allah strengthen our President and give him the wisdom to steer Nigeria to greater heights. May the bond within the APC wax stronger. May we escape all calamities. Long live President Buhari. Long Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the statement said.
