A former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, on Monday explained why he endorsed his son in-law, Abba Kabir Yusuf, for Kano PDP governorship ticket.
Speaking during a surprise visit to Kano on Monday, Mr Kwankwaso said said his in-law is married to two wives, and so he could not be controlled by his daughter.
He said the critics who faulted Mr Yusuf’s choice should have based their arguments on whether he is not competent.
“The first commissioner of Works we appointed was not competent. But when we appointed Abba as commissioner, we accomplished all the mega projects in Kano.
“Abba is more disturbed than me over present administration’s abandonment of our projects,” he said.
He said Abdullahi Ganduje’s government has failed, and so there is need to get competent hand to develop the state.
Mr Kwankwaso said he had prayed for over three years for a competent hand and someone who would not betray him.
He revealed that he single-handedly picked Mr Ganduje as his successor, being the most senior member of the Kwankwasiyya movement, in order for him to carry everybody along.
