The Kwara State Government has justified the Thursday’s demolition of the Senate President Bukola Saraki’s family property, saying that the administration is focused on restoring sanity after years of barefaced impunity in the state.

Recall that Governor AbdulRazaq-led administration had claimed that the property did not have a Certificate of Ownership, C of O, adding that no dime was paid to the state government before the land was “grabbed” by the Saraki’s father, late Olusola, during his administration as the Governor of the state.

Earlier today around 4:00 am, it was learnt, the security operatives dispersed protesters, including aged women within the complex while the demolition was going on.

Also recall that the state Director General of the Bureau of Lands, Ibrahim Salman, had on Wednesday revealed details surrounding the civil service clinic land and its adjourning plots in Ilorin, the state capital, amid public enquiry on the status of the property reclaimed by the state government.

In a statement on Thursday, the state Commissioner for Communications, Murtala Olanrewaju, denied having served with court papers on the matter before the demolition.

According to him, no court paper has been served as at the time the government took steps to preserve what lawfully belongs to the people.

“Finally, we urge the people of the state to remain calm, peaceful, and be guided only by facts of the matter and not be drawn into emotional outburst that is targeted at distracting the public from the issues at stake.

“While the administration is focused on restoring sanity to the state after years of barefaced impunity, we will do so within the limit of the law,” he said.
